Course overview:

This 5-day course is designed to provide teachers with the theoretical knowledge and practical tools to help children manage and transform their emotions through therapeutic storytelling. Teachers will learn how to address common emotional challenges in children—such as fear, anxiety, sadness, anger, and low self-esteem—using stories as a powerful tool for emotional education. The course integrates child psychology, emotional intelligence, and storytelling techniques, providing educators with strategies to foster emotional growth in their classrooms and enhance their own creativity.

Learning outcomes:

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  1. Create Therapeutic Stories:
Develop their own therapeutic stories using metaphors, symbols, and emotional themes to address specific emotional issues faced by students.
  2. Use Storytelling Techniques:
Master various storytelling techniques—such as voice modulation, body language, and suspense—to effectively communicate therapeutic stories and engage students.
  3. Integrate Stories into Classroom Practices:
Design and implement classroom activities, such as role-playing and guided reflections, to enhance the emotional impact of the stories.
  4. Foster Teacher Creativity:
Unlock their own creative potential through reflective exercises and creative activities designed to inspire fresh approaches to storytelling.
  5. Address Specific Emotional Challenges:
Apply the skills learned to address real-world emotional problems in students, such as anxiety, social rejection, and fear of failure.
  6. Promote Emotional and Social Skills in Students:
Teach students key emotional skills like empathy, resilience, and conflict resolution through stories that reflect and resolve their emotional struggles.

Methodology:

The course combines both theoretical learning and hands-on practice to equip teachers with the knowledge and skills to integrate therapeutic storytelling into their classrooms.

  • Theoretical Foundation:
Participants will be introduced to the role of storytelling in emotional management. This theoretical grounding will help them understand the deep connection between stories and children’s emotional growth.
  • Practical Application:
Through creative activities, participants will learn to unlock their own creativity and use stories to address specific emotional challenges in children. Activities will include group storytelling, story adaptation, creation of puppets and analysis of therapeutic tales.
  • Peer Collaboration:
Teachers will collaborate in groups to create, adapt, and present therapeutic stories. The collaborative approach encourages shared learning and feedback, enriching the creative process and deepening the teachers’ understanding of the storytelling techniques.
  • Reflection and Feedback:
The course will feature reflection periods where teachers share their experiences and receive feedback from their peers, ensuring that every participant leaves with actionable ideas and tools for the classroom.
